Painting

I am known as the mountain painter because I paint landscapes that I have experienced during my alpine hikes. My aerial point of view creates an impression of immensity and sets me apart from my landscape peers.
In my paintings, the atmosphere transforms reality into a feeling of quest and accomplishment. The walker enlivens the landscape and directs the viewer’s eye toward the summit, suggesting a sense of something greater than oneself. It expresses either a sense of exploration and discovery, or a state of perfect communion with nature.
As a painter, I am always challenged to strike a balance between conveying the figurative beauty of the landscape and bringing out my inner emotions as a hiker. Spontaneous trowel strokes give raw relief and mimic the wild, mineral effect of alpine nature.
