Watercolour

I have been a watercolorist for fifteen years and a professional artist for fifty years. In watercolor, you do not control the water—you work with it.
I love paper and the dexterity of hand-crafted work. I create vast spaces and atmospheres where the mind can wander and take flight. I hope my images become calm, expansive spaces for minds constantly stimulated by modern life.
I begin with sketches and, in the final stage on watercolor paper, I use the gestures I developed through years of abstraction to apply color as a sweeping movement through space. My current work is contemporary, blending abstraction with realistic representation.
For me, art is a dialogue with what I feel—a struggle with my freedom, my judgments, my evaluations. Every mark is a question, a decision.
